Delta Dental of Tennessee was first formed as Tennessee Dental Services Corporation in 1965 as the result of enabling legislation passed by the Tennessee General Assembly. In 1970, the company became a part of the Delta Dental Plans Association, which was created in order to coordinate dental insurance for companies with employees in multiple states.
Since then, Delta Dental of Tennessee has grown to become the largest independent dental insurance provider in the state, with more than 3,200 employer groups representing over 1.8 million Tennesseans. We also have the state’s largest network of practicing, licensed dentists with more than 88% participating in our Delta Dental Premier network and more than 70% participating in Delta Dental PPO. We are consistently rated among the largest, best, and most efficiently run companies in Tennessee.
Along with affiliates in Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Ohio, Delta Dental of Tennessee is part of a family of companies that collectively are among the largest dental plan administrators in the nation. Our offices are located in Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis.
