Oral Cancer Awareness
Every year, nearly 7,000 Americans die from oral cancer and approximately 34,000 more are diagnosed—and yet it’s one of the least talked about cancers.
As a sponsor of three minor league baseball teams—the Memphis Redbirds, the Nashville Sounds and the Chattanooga Lookouts—it seemed logical to partner with them to raise awareness of the disease; AAA and AA baseball teams like the Redbirds, Sounds and Lookouts have been tobacco free for nearly 20 years.
Every season, Delta Dental hosts an Oral Cancer Awareness Night at each team’s stadium. The nights feature free oral cancer screenings for attendees, informational PA announcements, and in-game interviews with oral cancer survivors or Delta Dental representatives about the dangers of the disease.
Additionally, Delta Dental has also sponsored oral cancer walks around the state, including the annual Chattanooga Oral Cancer Walk.
